Introduction:


Working directly with our Senior Art Director and Creative Director, the Art Director will be responsible for guiding the creative visual and graphic design direction across all visual communication touch points, ensuring that design assets align with the brand’s identity, strategy, and goals.


Working closely with marketing, web, and product teams, the Art Director will focus on executing high-quality graphic designs that reflect the brand's identity & narrative while achieving the business' commercial goals. They will also supervise day-to-day graphic design project workflows and provide mentorship to junior team members to achieve optimal design results.


The Art Director will primarily design for the Ads, Web, and Retention Marketing functions of the Marketing Department, while still supporting on overall design direction across the various customer touchpoints such as branding, packaging, social media, PR, and physical activations that we plan for in the future.


What You'll Do:


Creative Strategy and Execution



  • Support in the ideation and execution of creative concepts, and campaign execution strategy, and key visuals that align with brand objectives.

  • Ensure that all visual communications resonate across digital, social, and print platforms while maintaining consistency with the overall brand identity.

  • Implement and enforce brand guidelines across all media channels to ensure a cohesive brand presence.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to incorporate new data, insights, and industry best practices to keep the Ask & Embla brand relevant and visually appealing.


    • Collaboration & Team Coordination



  • Collaborate with Marketing, Web, and Product teams to ensure that design assets, collateral, and marketing materials are delivered on time and in line with project goals.

  • Align creative direction with broader marketing and business strategies.

  • Present and communicate creative concepts and project progress to internal stakeholders, gathering feedback to fine-tune the creative direction and ensure alignment with business objectives.


    • Project Management & Workflow



  • Oversee the day-to-day execution of creative projects, ensuring all deliverables are met according to timeline, budget, and scope.

  • Maintain high standards of design quality and consistency across all outputs.

  • Manage the creative team’s workload, assigning tasks and setting priorities to ensure deadlines are met while balancing the team’s capacity.

  • Monitor project progress and adapt plans to address challenges or changes in scope.


    • Team Leadership & Development



  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, helping them improve their skills and contribute effectively to the team.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes within the creative team, optimizing workflows to increase efficiency while maintaining high-quality outputs.


    • Who You Are:



  • Proven experience as an Art Director or in a similar leadership / project management role within a creative team.

  • Direct brand experience in fashion, retail, cosmetics, or e-commerce is highly preferred.

  • Exceptional visual and graphic design skills with a strong portfolio showcasing your work across various platforms (digital, print, social, web).

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design software.

  • Strong understanding of brand identity, visual communication, and marketing principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of designers.

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate creative concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to align creative work with business and commercial goals.
