Assistant Sales Manager (Freight Forwarding & Logistics)
Cogent Holdings Pte Ltd is a subsidiary of Cosco Shipping International (Singapore) Co., Ltd and has a wide range of clientele ranging from local SMEs to multinational companies. Cogent owns one of Singapore's largest one-stop integrated logistics hub, Cogent 1.Logistics Hub. It offers warehousing, transportation, freight forwarding, container depot, ISO tank depot and automotive logistics services in Singapore.
Role Description
The Assistant Sales Manager will drive growth in the company’s sea freight and logistics business by developing new business opportunities, executing sales strategies, and cultivating strong client and partner relationships to achieve sales targets and expand market presence.
1. Build relationships with new prospective and existing customers
2. Achieve targeted KPIs and budget by executing strategic sales plans in sea freight andlogistics sectors
3. Identify and engage cold leads 90% of the time to generate new sales opportunities and expand the customer base
4. Develop business opportunities with existing customers, contributing 10% of sales growth within the group
5. Analyze customer needs to deliver tailored logistics solutions that ensure high-quality service post-sale
6. Lead participation in global and local tenders to secure new contracts and partnerships
7. Establish and maintain strong relationships with carriers and liners to negotiate competitive rates and enhance companyreputation
8. Collaborate with internal departments locally andinternationally to coordinate door-to-door supply chain services aligned with group objectives
9. Network actively by attending industry events to build professional connections and promote company services
10. Travel as necessary to meet and engage customers, strengthening client relationships and business development efforts
11. Any other duties and responsibilities
Requirements
- Degree in business administration, logistics or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of proven sales and business development experience in the logistics and freight forwarding industry
- In-depth knowledge of the logistics and sea freight industry
- Ability to secure customers across diverse industries including food, e-commerce, project cargo, automotive, chemical, oil & gas, and furniture
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and sustain client relationships
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills to influence decision-making and close deals
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
- Existing business pipelines and industry connections are advantageous
