Description
- Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for the loyalty program entity or cost center(s), ensuring accurate P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
- Prepare and deliver consolidated and segment-level management accounts on a timely basis with narrative commentary on key variances.
SGX / statutory & regulatory reporting
- Ensure all reporting obligations to the parent company and SGX are met (financial schedules, disclosures, reconciliation of subsidiary balances, compliance with accounting standards applicable to the parent).
- Coordinate with external auditors and internal teams for statutory audits, filings and disclosures.
- Oversee accounting for merchant partner transactions: accruals for loyalty rewards, merchant settlement reconciliations, commission calculations, chargebacks/refunds and revenue recognition for partner-led promotions.
- Implement and maintain reconciliations between program systems, merchant statements and general ledger; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Management reporting & financial analytics
- Produce routine and ad-hoc management reports (monthly scorecards, KPI dashboards) covering revenue, costs, breakage, redemption rates, merchant profitability and program economics.
- Build financial models and run scenario analyses to support pricing, merchant contracting, promotion planning and long-term forecasting.
- Provide insights and recommendations to commercial and operations teams to improve program ROI and merchant performance.
Controls, policies & process improvement
- Design, implement and monitor internal financial controls specific to loyalty liabilities, merchant settlements and promotions.
- Standardize accounting policies and procedures across merchant integrations; drive improvements in close efficiency and data quality.
- Ensure compliant treatment of loyalty liabilities (unredeemed points), revenue recognition and deferred income in line with accounting standards and group policy.
Systems & data governance
- Own the interface between loyalty/merchant platforms and the ERP/GL; ensure clean, auditable journal flows and metadata for reporting.
- Work with product/database/operations teams to improve data capture, automated reconciliations and reporting pipelines.
Stakeholder management & leadership
- Act as primary finance partner to merchant partnership, commercial, legal and operations teams; translate financial implications into business actions.
- Lead a small accounting/finance team — mentoring and performance management.
- Liaise with corporate finance, tax and treasury teams on group-level initiatives and cash management related to merchant settlements.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; and/or professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA) preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; at least 3 years in a senior accounting role with ownership of financial reporting (experience in loyalty programs, payments, ecommerce or merchant-acquiring businesses strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated experience preparing/regulatory reporting for a listed parent (familiarity with SGX disclosure requirements and Singapore/IFRS accounting standards preferred).
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations, audit cycles and designing internal controls.
Technical skills & competencies
- Strong technical accounting knowledge: revenue recognition, deferred liabilities, accruals, foreign currency, VAT implications where applicable.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling; familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) desirable.
- Data-oriented mindset with ability to turn complex datasets into clear insights and recommendations.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills — able to present financial analysis to non-finance stakeholders and to senior management.
