Guest interaction: Greet guests, escort them to tables, present menus, and take food and drink orders, taking note of any special requests or dietary restrictions.
Menu and wine knowledge: Discuss menu items in detail, offer knowledgeable recommendations for both food and wine pairings, and be able to memorize complex menus and wine lists.
Service delivery: Serve food and beverages according to established etiquette and standards, often involving tableside preparation and ensuring perfect plating and presentation.
Table maintenance: Continuously monitor and maintain table appearance, including refreshing water glasses, clearing used dishes, and ensuring the dining area is clean and organized.
Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with kitchen staff to ensure orders are correct and delivered on time, and with other front-of-house staff as needed.
Problem-solving: Address guest complaints or issues promptly, professionally, and discreetly.
Preparation and closing: Perform side work, which includes stocking supplies, polishing silverware, and preparing and resetting tables for the next guests.
Requirements and skills
3 years experience in fine dining or a high-end restaurant.
Strong knowledge of wines and food and beverage pairings.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A high level of attention to detail and a polished appearance.
The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Familiarity with POS (Point of Sale) systems.
The ability to perform physical tasks, such as walking and standing for long periods.
