Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on and commercially driven General Manager to lead and scale our e-commerce fashion retail startup. This role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end business operations, driving revenue growth, strengthening brand positioning, and building a high-performing team. The ideal candidate is both strategic and operational, comfortable working in a startup environment, and passionate about fashion, digital commerce, and building processes from the ground up.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Business Strategy & Growth
· Develop and execute short- and long-term business strategies aligned with company goals
· Drive revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion
· Identify new sales channels, partnerships, and business opportunities
· Monitor market trends, competitors, and consumer behaviour in fashion e-commerce
· Work closely with the Directors to translate the Founder’s vision into actionable business strategies,
ensuring alignment across all functions and long-term company direction.
2. E-Commerce & Commercial Performance
· Oversee website performance, conversion rates, and online customer journey
· Work closely with marketing on campaigns, promotions, and brand positioning
· Analyze sales data, customer insights, and KPIs to optimize performance
· Manage pricing strategy, product mix, and inventory planning
3. Operations & Supply Chain
· Oversee end-to-end supply chain including production timelines, inventory, warehousing, and
logistics
· Ensure timely order fulfillment and high service levels
· Implement efficient operational processes and systems
· Monitor vendor, supplier, and logistics partner relationships
4. Team Leadership & People Management
· Build, lead, and mentor cross-functional teams (merchandising, marketing, operations)
· Set clear KPIs, performance expectations, and accountability structures
· Foster a positive, agile, and collaborative startup culture
5. Financial Oversight
· Manage budgeting, cost control, and financial performance
· Monitor cash flow, margins, and operational expenditure
· Work with finance on forecasting and financial planning
6. Brand & Customer Experience
· Ensure consistent brand positioning across all customer touchpoints
· Improve customer experience, retention, and loyalty strategies
· Oversee customer service standards and issue resolution
7. Systems & Process Development
· Establish SOPs, workflows, and reporting structures
· Implement tools and systems to support scalability
· Drive continuous process improvement
8. Product Development
· Collaborate with the Product Development team to plan and deliver new product launches, ensuring collections align with brand positioning, market demand, and commercial targets.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Fashion Management, or a related field
· 5–10 years of experience in e-commerce, retail, or fashion industry
· Proven experience in a leadership or general management role
· Strong commercial acumen with experience driving revenue growth
· Experience in startup or high-growth environments preferred
· Strong understanding of digital commerce, online marketing, and consumer behavior
· Knowledge of supply chain and inventory management
· Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
