The Role
We are seeking a mid- to senior-level lawyer to join our team as Legal Counsel. You will work closely with our Changi East Development and Engineering & Development teams, taking a systems-wide approach to managing liability across complex infrastructure projects including the upcoming Terminal 5 development works.
Your scope will include:
- Advising on tenders, procurement, and project documentation.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction, consultancy, and maintenance contracts, including reviewing and assessing potential risk exposure and amenability for acceptance or need for negotiation where business partners and/or tender bidders put forth caveats and qualifications to what are CAG’s standard terms and conditions for contracting, and assisting to develop, review and negotiate non-standard terms and conditions for entering into non-conventional business partnerships, for example those pertaining to collaborative contracting, innovation experiments, product reseller and/or revenue sharing agreements, service partnerships in foreign countries, new forms of business engagements and revenue/cost structuring, etc.
- Managing and resolving disputes through negotiation, mediation, litigation, and/or arbitration.
- Supporting contract administration, including reviewing/drafting letters and advising project teams on issues such as contract interpretation, contractual claims, delays and variations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Acting as a proactive business partner to deliver solutions-oriented legal support in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- LLB or equivalent from a reputable university, with admission to the Singapore Bar.
- Relevant experience (5–12 years’ PQE) in a law firm or corporate environment handling complex, high-value, or cross-border matters, preferably with regional or international exposure.
- Relevant experience in litigation/dispute resolution, particularly in construction-related disputes.
- Strong familiarity with construction contracts (e.g. PSSCOC, REDAS, SIA) and associated agreements.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with a practical, solutions-driven mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight timelines.
- Strong business acumen; experience with e-commerce or digital business models would be an advantage.
