Merchandising Executive

Overview

Our client, is a market-leading Regional Educational & Lifestyle Retailer.

We are seeking a Merchandising Executive (Purchasing) to work closely with the Director, Operations & Business in driving sourcing and procurement across a diverse product range, including stationery, books, and lifestyle merchandise.

This role manages supplier relationships, product selection, and accurate documentation, ensuring all offerings align with quality standards and evolving consumer trends. Through strategic sourcing and cost optimisation, the incumbent contributes to margin improvement while collaborating with internal teams to curate compelling assortments and maintain market competitiveness.

Salary: $2800-$3,500 + PB + Transport Coverage

Working hours: MON- FRI Office hours

Location: North East Singapore

Key responsibilities:

• Identify and onboard new products while overseeing assigned merchandise portfolios

• Develop assortment strategies, category mix, and range plans to meet business goals

• Evaluate pricing approaches to optimise revenue and profit margins

• Compile data-driven insights to support vendor negotiations

• Liaise with suppliers on promotional activities and ensure timely stock fulfilment

• Track and manage slow-moving items to improve sell-through performance

• Ensure consistent replenishment of high-demand products

• Monitor inventory levels to reduce excess stock and markdown exposure

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders on product launches and campaign execution

• Generate monthly reports on sales performance and inventory trends

• Conduct market and competitor analysis to stay ahead of industry trends

• Perform regular store audits to uphold visual merchandising standards

• Support planning and execution of store-related activities, including openings, renovations, closures, and Back-to-School (BTS) orders, as well as offsite retail events

• Assist with campaigns, events, and general merchandising administrative support

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline

• At least 2–3 years of experience in purchasing or a similar function would be an advantage

• Willing to travel to assigned locations around Singapore

• Familiarity with SAP is a plus

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
