Booksmart is a fast-growing online bookstore headquartered in Singapore, on a mission to transform the way books are purchased and delivered across Asia. We're looking for an Operations Management Trainee to join our dynamic team and grow with us in a role that combines procurement and fulfilment operations. This role is designed to fast-track your development into a future leadership role within our Operations team.
Role Overview:
As an Operations Management Trainee, you will support and learn from our experienced operations team while developing core skills in procurement, supply chain coordination, and order fulfilment. This role offers hands-on exposure to end-to-end operational processes—from sourcing books and managing supplier relationships to ensuring on-time delivery to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Operations
Support the procurement team in sourcing books and managing purchase orders with local and international suppliers
Assist in maintaining optimal inventory levels and tracking stock availability to meet customer demand
Help evaluate supplier performance and work on initiatives to improve cost efficiency, lead times, and product quality
Liaise with suppliers to confirm order details, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely dispatch of goods
Fulfilment & Logistics
Assist in daily inbound and order fulfilment operations to ensure accurate and timely delivery from supplier to customer
Contribute to the documentation and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both procurement and fulfilment processes
Monitor supply chain performance and support in identifying and resolving operational bottlenecks
Analyse operational and procurement data to build dashboards and reports that drive better decision-making
Process Improvement & Coordination
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (e.g., customer service, tech, finance) to support smooth operations
Proactively identify process inefficiencies and suggest improvements to boost operational effectiveness
Participate in strategic projects aimed at improving cost, speed, and customer satisfaction
Requirements:
A fresh graduate or early-career professional with a keen interest in operations, procurement, or supply chain management
Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, projects, or internships
Detail-oriented and organized, with strong problem-solving skills
Comfortable working with numbers and analysing data to derive insights
Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with inventory or procurement tools is a plus
Hungry to learn, driven to grow, and excited by operational problem-solving
