The Operation teams at Shopee covers the operational end-to-end process, from when the buyer searches for a product listed on the Shopee platform, to the moment the buyer receives the products. The team analyses and monitors operational KPIs across the region and conducts root cause analysis when operation performance fluctuates. The Operations team comprises Customer Service, Payment, Listings, Warehouse, Logistics, Seller Operations and Fraud.
About the Team:
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for developing sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, and total value beyond traditional procurement bidding. The role focuses on identifying and developing suppliers, improving sourcing decisions through data and TCO analysis, and driving continuous improvement across procurement processes.
This role partners closely with Local Procurement and Operations to ensure sourcing decisions are not based solely on price, but on total cost of ownership, supplier capability, compliance, and operational impact.
Job Description:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development
● Identify and onboard suppliers that meet business needs in terms of cost, quality, and capability
● Develop sourcing strategies that improve supplier mix, resilience, and localization of supply
● Evaluate and challenge existing supplier base to reduce dependency and improve performance
Cost & TCO Optimization
● Assess sourcing decisions using total cost of ownership (TCO) including logistics, quality risks, and operational impact
● Review and challenge product specifications to identify cost engineering and standardization opportunities
● Drive initiatives that deliver sustainable cost savings beyond price reductions
Data & Procurement Analytics
● Build dashboards and analysis to track:
○ sourcing savings and cost avoidance
○ supplier performance (quality, delivery, compliance)
○ procurement inefficiencies and risk exposure
○ market and spend trends
● Translate data into actionable sourcing insights and recommendations
Process Improvement
● Identify gaps in current procurement and sourcing processes and propose improvements
● Support initiatives to enhance sourcing governance and procurement efficiency
● Evaluate sourcing practices to ensure right specification, right supplier, right cost
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Economics, or related field
- 2–5 years experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or analytics roles
- Strong analytical and commercial thinking
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills; BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is a plus
- Comfortable working with data and influencing stakeholders
- High ownership, proactive, and improvement-oriented mindset
